I went vegan. Discuss.
I'm a pan(en)theistic Pagan with a quick tongue, black thumb, and no sense of elemental direction. Otherwise, I'm awesome.
All I have to say is…. be nice to your friends and always bring something you can snack on. I had a girl come visit me in the depths of winter, in Alaska who was a RAW vegan. I was very thankful she came with food! I had no idea what to feed her!
Keep in mind some people will freak out if they want to make something you can eat, its ok to suggest something! :)
Let us know how it goes! I hear it can be hard!
I’M ALWAYS NICE, DAMMIT. ;) jk
Naw, it’s been really great so far! I rarely eat meat so that hasn’t been much of an issue…the hard part has been cutting out dairy and eggs and other animal products. Like always, the real work will be cutting my portions down and making sure that I’m giving my body what it needs (in terms of nutrients and compatible chemistry).
I’m pretty sure that milk has been screwing with my sinuses for years now and I never realized what an impact that has had on my health. I’m also discovering sensitivities to certain foods and food combinations that would otherwise have continued to go unnoticed or hidden due to more overwhelming dietary factors (like, ironically, other food allergies and bad reactions that I thought were normal).
I’m much more aware of how food “feels” now and it’s helping me gauge my eating habits and change my thinking. The biggest change: I no longer feel tired and groggy after eating. The food I’m making now actually energizes me. No more mid-day, after-meal sluggishness! It’s sad, but I never realized how debilitating my diet was to my health and happiness before.
So far, so good!
Thanks Kathleen! <3
you should totally share some of the meals you are making! I have been what my doctor called “Semi-vegetarian” for years and I am trying to spruce up what we eat around here with some new things! I am always up for new ideas! :)
And yes you are always nice! ;)
I will, darlin’! Next episode will be all about veganism (episode 4). :)
oooo sweet! I found a new fancy word for the way I eat! Its called flexitarian! And with that magic trendy word I discovered salad, naan pizza! here! Try it! It says pita but I used naan! http://dawnjacksonblatner.com/recipes/mediterranean-hummus-pizza/ you can just take out the cheese! :)
Oh, sweet mother of…hummus pizza. O_O Now you’ve done it. Dammit, Kathleen! *running to fridge* ;)
Vegan is good. I went raw a while back and I felt SO ALIVE! I try to eat and live a vegan lifestyle as much as possible. At first I did it to loose weight, but after that, I just did it for my health. I felt so good. Life just seemed more beautiful that way.
Not going to lie though, I do get on that fish once in a while lol
Hello Many Stars,
I too am loving the feeling of a vegan life as well! No regrets. Fish is going to be hard for me…I love Mexican seafood dishes so much I could eat them every day…but I’m trying to be strong and disciplined and see how far it can take me health-wise and in terms of a balance with nature. Cookies are currently my only “cheat.” I needs my damn cookies, man. Until I can figure out where to find vegan cookies (or develop the discipline to keep them around the house on reserve without gobbling them all up in one sitting as soon as I make them) I reserve the right to consume cookies made with eggs. ;) We all have our weaknesses. Mine is clearly cookies. Thanks ‘Stars!
