To All My Pagan Artists

…or artists who happen to be pagan

I want to share this video with all of you. As a failing (or flailing) artist, I really needed this advise and encouragement. I’m a graphic designer who has lost her way. In the past year or so, I’ve been so discouraged by the lack of skill and quality in my work that I have come close to giving up on my dreams altogether. This has weakened my work, my drive, and my performance in school. Not surprisingly, my instructors have not been very encouraging due to my lack of involvement and dedication. To them, I must seem like an unmotivated and talentless student who is shamefully wasting their time. I know I feel that way often.

So, I’m in a slump. It’s not the end of the world. I need to “fight through” this period of my career and keep going. It’s not like my talent is gone just because I’m not bringin’ it the way I used to. Art is a skill, a muscle that needs to be stretched and challenged to grow. Just keep swimming! Although this video, Nobody Tells People Who Are Beginners, is an excerpt from a lecture for writers, illustrators and animators, it applies to all artists. I defy you not to relate and be uplifted by this message. Wise words. Everyone goes through it. Fight through. Watch and be blessed.

I’m a pan(en)theistic Pagan with a quick tongue, black thumb, and no sense of elemental direction. Otherwise, I’m awesome.
